PROJECT: “Ice Skates” Ornament

Supply Fee: $3.00 (make checks payable to Sandy Scales),
Includes pattern, photo, instructions.

Bring: Basecoated surface, normal painting supplies

NOTE: As this ornament is quite small, some of you may have
difficulty painting the tiny details. Please bring some type of
magnification like MagEyes or something similar, if needed.

Surface: Make checks payable to Sandy Scales for $12.00 for
Rebecca Baer ornament or bring your own “oval” ornament or
surface of choice measuring at least 3 ¾” high X 2 ¾” wide.
Sandy has a few more of these “oval” ornaments. Please contact

Brushes: Small good rounds, liners and flats
#6 McNaughton Pro Round Stippler or similar for dry brushing

Paints (DecoArt Americana): Will be provided

Before Class Prep: Base coat oval ornament with at least two coats of
DecoArt Eggshell, lightly sanded in between costs. I base coated both
sides of my ornament. Base coat should be opaque. If not, apply a
third coat. No need to base coat the filigree (outside) area of the
ornament if you plan to do gold leafing. If you do not plan to gold
leaf, you can paint the filigree the same as the base coat or
your color of choice. Trace on all of the elements. Base coat the
skates with DecoArt Titanium White. Base coat the Heel and the soles
of the skates with DecoArt Soft Black. Base coat the bow
with DecoArt Country Red.
